Trafford Council decided on 30 June to approve the application for awarding Village Green status for Turn Moss playing fields. This decision from Trafford Council, who are the land owners, in effect rubber stamps approval for the fields to gain extra protection. But it will take 1-3 months for it to be nationally ratified and added to the Village Green register.

Having Village Green status for an area of green space recognises it’s importance to the local community and should protect this wonderful green space for future generations.  At the end of 2019,  there was an overturning of Village Green status in Lancaster, this was a controversial decision and required the use of the judicial review process. It serves to highlight nothing is ever 100% protected. But should we have to fight once again to save Turn Moss, we will be ready!
